Student development acknowledges that all students are unique, and institutions must educate the whole student both academically and socially as they prepare for a global world. This session will examine the way in which students change, grow and develop and how institutions can meet the needs in areas where they fall short.
Conflict is a part of human nature. It occurs in homes, schools, and professional organizations. This session will address thoughts and beliefs that contribute to conflict. Participants will develop new skill-sets required to resolve conflicts in a win-win manner. This competency teaches participants how to leverage the art of listening, negotiation, and mediation.
Cultural competence enables individuals to work more effectively in any organization. This session engages participants in interactive training that takes a more in-depth look at cultural competence and the 5 Stages that lead to competence.
Did you know that gender-diverse companies are 15% more likely to outperform their peers, while ethnically-diverse companies are 35% more likely to do the same? The beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people without a doubt, but many schools and professional organizations are unsure of how to actively expand or maximize their diversity. This competency celebrates the fact that we all have a unique background and culture, and that diversity should be embraced. Together we will openly and courageously address diversity and inclusion issues that could be hindering your success—as well as the success of your students or team.
Effective communication is vital to the success of any organization. This session provides practical skills, scenarios, and techniques for enhancing communication. Participants will be provided with key concepts and strategies that can be applied in their work and personal life. The F.U.E.L model will be introduced as a framework for helping individuals to feel understood and valued.
We specialize in working with organizations using a 5 step process to assess, create objectives, design, implement and evaluate effective programs tailored to their unique needs. We help to create effective management systems that yield great results.
Your people are your organization’s most valuable assets. You must not only hire candidates with the required skill set, but candidates who will add value to the organization as a whole. Once hired it is equally important to retain your team. While training in this competency, we will explore several different options for recruiting, retention, and developing a desirable company culture.

Diversity & Inclusion Quick Start Overview
Monique Johnson is truly dedicated to making an impact in the lives of others. She is a master motivator who creates change and opens minds to understanding empathy and tolerance. She is an active listener and a team builder. She did an amazing job of co-facilitating our Lakota Champions’ Team. It was a pleasure to work with her over the past two years! –Kelly Carstens, Counselor-Independence Elementary School-Lakota
As our first Program Director, Monique had to invent the structure of our program, offer training, recruit and manage volunteers of all ages from all areas of the community, and follow the myriad of federal requirements of our major grant–which had just been obtained. With her high standards, Monique led us to places we could never have gone, so that our program was much larger and more diverse and inclusive. At the same time, she dotted some amazing t’s and i’s with precision–and our children made unbelievable progress in their reading skills. When Monique left us, our teachers and students were bereft! She could not be replaced by three people! REBECCA (BEKKI) COOK ATTORNEY AND FORMER MISSOURI SECRETARY OF STATE

Dr. Monique Johnson is a great teacher and mentor. She is concerned and compassionate, and her students respond to her caring manner. Focused on the outcome, Dr. Johnson is collaborative, flexible, and a great colleague.
It was my pleasure to work with Monique Johnson for a year’s period in which she helped spearhead the new Champions for Change diversity initiative with Lakota Local Schools. My interactions with her were professional, warm, caring, and committed to her purpose. I found Monique to be easy to talk to, honest, approachable, and masterful in navigating situations that were sometimes difficult to discuss. I enjoyed my time getting to know her and believe she made a real difference in the work we did in the area of diversity. I’m proud of the work I accomplished under her leadership and truly hate to see her go, but I have faith that her next assignment will benefit others in the same way Champions for Change did for our school district. Amy Godsey Alexander, Instructional Coach, Liberty Junior High School, Lakota School District
Having had the opportunity to work with Monique in the United Way “Read to Succeed” campaign and in Girl Scouts I have always found Monique to be candid, a clear communicator, personable, and true to her word. Her passion to help organizations reach people and magnify their mission is a gift really. Personally and professionally Monique is truly an asset.Sandra KoenigBusiness Owner, Blogger, Insurance and Investment Professional
During our time together as university administrators Dr. Johnson demonstrated acute intelligence, high moral character, a positive and sustained work ethic, and the ability to analyze and resolve complex problems. She was a comfortable team member possessed with leadership skills, which she used wisely. I valued her highly as an assistant Dean and colleague.
It was my pleasure to serve with Dr. Monique Johnson both professionally and personally. Dr. Johnson coordinated the Read to Succeed program at Alma Schrader Elementary School where I serve as principal. Dr. Johnson’s work with the volunteers who entered the program was remarkable both in its efficiency and its efficacy. Most volunteers entering the program did not have specialized training in reading remediation. Dr. Johnson provided excellent guidance for these volunteers, making them effective interveners with the children who they served. Dr. Johnson also kept detailed records which allowed my teachers and I to make informed decisions based upon the data provided to us. In working with both the volunteers and the professional staff, Dr. Johnson treated everyone with the utmost respect while displaying desirable leadership traits. Dr. Ruth Ann Orr Principal, Alma Schrader Elementary Cape Girardeau School District
